A script for recording your screen under linux with ffmpeg

Things you'll need to install

On Debian based distros (Ubuntu, Mint, Kubuntu, Xubuntu...)

sudo apt install ffmpeg

Things you need to change based on your configuration

pkill -f /dev/video0 <- change "video0" to the video interface of your webcam
ffplay -f v4l2 -noborder -an -sn -alwaysontop -video_size 380x360 /dev/video0 <- do the same here

ffmpeg part

ffmpeg -y -f x11grab -s 1680x1050 -i :0.0+1280 -f alsa -i default screenout.mp4 <- change "1680x1050" to your monitors resolution....change ":0.0+1280" to ":0.0" if you use just one monitor.....if you use two monitors and want to record one specific monitor make sure to change the "1280" value acording to your second monitors width
in the -f pulse -ac 2 -i 2 section change the 2 acording to the output of the following command

pacmd list-sources

And look for Monitor of CM106 Like Sound Device Analog Stereo and replace the 2 in -f pulse -ac 2 -i 2 with the index number
in the -f alsa -i default section change the 2 acording to the output of the pacmd list-sources and look for your microphones audio card

ffplay part

-left 1325 -top 730 -video_size 380x360 - make sure to change these values as you need

Make executable

chmod +x screenrecorder.sh

./screenrecorder.sh
