Back/Forward mouse buttons trigger both remapped shortcuts and app navigation when Mos is running #907

Description

Describe the bug | 问题描述

When Mos is running, the Back and Forward buttons on my mouse trigger both their remapped macOS shortcuts and the default back/forward action in the application currently under the pointer.

I remapped these two mouse buttons to trigger Mission Control and App Exposé. However, with Mos enabled, pressing those buttons also sends the original back/forward mouse events to the active window.

For example:

  • In Warp, it switches tabs.
  • In Firefox, it navigates backward/forward in browsing history.
  • In Finder, it does nothing.
If I quit Mos, the problem disappears and the buttons only trigger the shortcuts I configured.

To Reproduce | 如何重现

  1. Configure the mouse Back and Forward buttons to trigger macOS shortcuts such as Mission Control and App Exposé.
  2. Launch Mos.
  3. Open an application that reacts to mouse back/forward buttons, such as Firefox or Warp.
  4. Move the pointer over that application window.
  5. Press the remapped Back or Forward mouse button.

Expected behavior | 期望结果

Only the configured shortcut should be triggered:

  • Back button → Mission Control
  • Forward button → App Exposé
The original back/forward mouse event should not also be sent to the application under the pointer.

System Info | 系统信息:

  • Mouse: DeLUX M618GX
  • OS: macOS 15.7.4 & 15.7.5
  • Browser Firefox 148 & 149
  • Version [e.g. v69]
  • Application : Firefox, Warp, probably others

Additional context | 额外说明

This seems specifically related to Mos being active:

  • With Mos running, the remapped buttons trigger both the assigned shortcut and the app-level back/forward action.
  • With Mos closed, the issue no longer occurs.
The problem is easy to reproduce in apps that natively handle mouse back/forward buttons.
