MWEBscan (https://mwebscan.com) is open-source software by Tech1k, licensed under the GNU Affero General Public License v3.0 (see LICENSE).
As an additional term permitted under AGPL-3.0 Section 7(b) (for the code), and under the CC BY 4.0 data license plus the hosted Terms of Service (for MWEBscan-generated data and API output), the following reasonable attribution applies.
Public products, hosted services, wallets, explorers, dashboards, APIs, research tools, reports, or applications that use, display, redistribute, or derive results from MWEBscan code, data, labels, scores, links, heuristics, methodology, or API output must preserve reasonable attribution to the original project and author.
Acceptable attribution includes "Data from MWEBscan by Tech1k," "Powered by MWEBscan," or similar wording, with a link to https://mwebscan.com or the upstream repository.
Attribution must be reasonably visible to users where MWEBscan-derived results are displayed (for example an About, Credits, Data Sources, API, Privacy Analysis, or Methodology screen). It does not need to appear on a home screen or carry the MWEBscan logo.
Attribution must not imply endorsement by MWEBscan or Tech1k unless written permission is granted.
For products consuming the public API, the simpler wording is:
Attribution: Public products displaying MWEBscan data, links, scores, labels, heuristics, or API-derived results must include attribution such as "Data from MWEBscan by Tech1k" or "Powered by MWEBscan," with a link to mwebscan.com. Do not imply endorsement unless written permission is granted.
AGPL-3.0 Section 7(b) permits additional terms requiring preservation of reasonable legal notices or author attributions. Per the FSF's guidance, this requirement is intended to be modest and tied only to authorship and data-source credit; it is not meant to add restrictions that conflict with the software freedoms the AGPL grants.
For commercial or non-AGPL licensing, see LICENSING.md.
