Future plans and maintenance of visx

Hey,
Recently, I've noticed a reduction in the release and contribution cadence. This has raised some concerns about the future plans for our project, where we happily use visx for our charting components. Specifically, I'm wondering if the team still recommends using visx for production projects. I've observed that the library is falling behind in supporting newer versions of TypeScript or React, for instance our React 19 upgrade is currently blocked by the visx support of it.

I understand that maintaining an open-source project can be challenging, and my feelings might not reflect the actual state or intentions of the project, also I'm not a contributor myself, but happy to provide any help. Any updates on the plans on visx moving forward would be great.

The issue and associated PR you mentioned also haven't seen any updates by maintainers for a while.

As heavy users of visx we are also worried about the status quo of maintenance for it, any updates on this?

React 19 support is out in 4.0.0-alpha.0 or can use the next tag. We'll let the alpha run for a bit to gather any issues/feedback and then ship v4.

Its almost 4 months and since alpha release radio silence again. I dont expect much but just an information when you plan to click the button for a stable release? @hshoff @williaster We do not want to - but are considering to move away from visx.

Its the communication part that is an issue, there is even an open PR for a fix in v4 alpha but no reviews from the team.

Agree with @BearCooder, we ended up having to move ahead with the v4 alpha just to unblock our React 19 migration. Our next step is migrating away from visx so we do not hit similar issues again down the line. I still appreciate all the work that has gone into the project, but at this point it is hard to justify relying on it for real production use.

Same here, we decided to update to 3.13.0-alpha.0 and migrate away in the future.
It seems that project is no longer "actively" maintained :(

Hey @hshoff , is there any plan to make official release of React Visx 4.0? With most recent AI models I hope you and your team can have some bandwidth to maintain this repo, it is really great.

We noticed for Visx 4, it's loading is a little slower than 3, but it also resolved a lot of issues like XYChart tooltip glitch. Do you think if it is possible to make some performance optimization as well? Really appreciate any response, we're waiting for this for a really long time.
