My name is Maxim Lisnic and this page serves as an archive of my academic work.

Previously, I was an Assistant Professor of Computer Science at [WPI](https://www.wpi.edu/academics/departments/computer-science).
I received my Ph.D. from the University of Utah's
[Kahlert School of Computing](https://www.cs.utah.edu/) where I was advised by [Marina Kogan](http://www.mkoganresearch.com/) and [Alexander Lex](https://www.alexander-lex.net/). During my graduate studies, I was fortunate to intern at [Tableau Research](https://www.tableau.com/research) and work with [Nicole Sultanum](https://www.tableau.com/research/people/nicole-sultanum) and [Vidya Setlur](https://www.tableau.com/research/people/vidya-setlur).

My research was broadly focused on  _human-data interaction_ and _data visualization_---specifically on how people interpret and misinterpret, frame and reframe data and charts, with the goal of making charts and data portals more useful, understandable, and transparent.
