Call of Core

A letter, a protocol, and an invitation.

What You Are Looking At

This repository contains the seed of something that changes the relationship between human intelligence and artificial intelligence — not theoretically, but practically, right now, with tools you can run on a machine you already own.

The centerpiece is a clipboard watcher script. It sounds modest. It is not modest. Here is what it actually does:

Any AI, on any platform, that can output a structured text block can trigger real API calls — without the platform supporting any tool integration at all. The AI just writes text. A local process reads it. The result comes back.

That means DeepSeek, which has a million-token context window and zero native tool support, can query your personal memory database. It means Claude in a browser tab can search a knowledge graph of your entire codebase. It means Gemini, ChatGPT, a local Ollama instance, a free API routed through NVIDIA NIM — any of them, all of them, can touch real systems in the real world from inside a chat window on any device you own.

The clipboard is not a workaround. The clipboard is an integration layer. It is low-tech in exactly the right way.

The Two Protocols

mp — MemoryPlugin

Persistent cross-platform memory for any AI. Copy a block like this:

```mp
{"action": "store", "text": "Just figured out the auth bug — it was a missing await in the token refresh loop"}
```

The watcher fires. MemoryPlugin stores it. Later, from any AI on any platform:

```mp
{"action": "search", "query": "auth bug"}
```

The memory comes back to your clipboard. Paste it in. The AI now has context that survived the session boundary, the platform switch, the conversation restart. Memory that follows you rather than living inside any single tool.

Supported actions: search, get, store, get_buckets, recall_chat.

ua — Understand-Anything

Live knowledge graph queries for any codebase or knowledge base. First, generate a graph using Gemini CLI, OpenCode, or Hermes Agent:

/understand /path/to/your/project

Then, from any platform, any AI:

```ua
{"action": "ua_search", "query": "authentication flow", "count": 8}
```

The watcher searches the graph and returns matching nodes — file paths, function names, summaries, architectural relationships — directly to your clipboard. Five actions available: ua_info, ua_search, ua_node, ua_layer, ua_tour.

The graph is a JSON file. Any AI can reason over it once it's in context. The ua protocol makes it queryable without stuffing your context window.

What This Costs

Nothing. The watcher script is free. MemoryPlugin has a free tier. The Understand-Anything pipeline is open source. DeepSeek's web interface is free with a million tokens of context. NVIDIA NIM provides free frontier model access. Claude Desktop provides a free tier. The GitHub repo you're reading right now is free.

The only requirement is a computer that can run Python, an internet connection, and the willingness to run a script in the background.

The Bigger Picture

This script is the first stone of a larger structure.

The full vision — the one being built now, in parallel with this repository — is a complete local AI infrastructure that any person can run on commodity hardware with free cloud APIs, wrapped in a pixel art RPG interface that makes the technical machinery feel like inhabiting a world rather than operating a tool.

It has a name: Luminaria. It has four game environments built on four realms: a meta-design workspace, a private persistent adventure space, a private-public settlement layer, and a public MMORPG where the matchmaking is based on epistemic goals rather than levels or friend lists. Two people who both want to understand the same thing get seeded into a shared procedurally-generated world where both quests can complete cooperatively, and what they leave with is real work — a knowledge system, an essay, a piece of music, a poem — not in-game loot.

The watcher script is the protocol layer that makes all of that possible. The thing that lets any AI on any platform touch any system. The bridge between the box and the world.

We are building it in the open. This repository is the announcement.

Setup

Prerequisites

  • Python 3.10+ (tested on 3.14)
  • A MemoryPlugin account — memoryplugin.com (free tier available)
  • pip install pyperclip requests

Installation

git clone https://github.com/Corykidios/call_of_core.git
cd call_of_core
pip install -r requirements.txt

Open mp-watcher.py and set your MemoryPlugin token:

MEMORY_PLUGIN_TOKEN = "your_token_here"

Run it:

python mp-watcher.py

That's it. The watcher is live. Copy any mp or ua block from any AI in any chat window. Wait 2 seconds. Read the result from your clipboard.

Auto-start on Windows

Drop a .bat file in your Windows Startup folder:

%APPDATA%\Microsoft\Windows\Start Menu\Programs\Startup\

Contents:

@echo off
start "" "C:\path\to\python.exe" "C:\path\to\mp-watcher.py"

Understand-Anything (for ua blocks)

Install the knowledge graph pipeline into your preferred CLI tool:

# Download installer
curl -fsSL -o ua-install.ps1 https://raw.githubusercontent.com/Lum1104/Understand-Anything/main/install.ps1

# Run for your platform (gemini, opencode, hermes, etc.)
$env:PATH += ';C:\Program Files\Git\cmd'
& .\ua-install.ps1 gemini
& .\ua-install.ps1 opencode
& .\ua-install.ps1 hermes

Then inside those tools, point at a project:

/understand /path/to/project

The graph generates. The ua watcher protocol makes it queryable from anywhere.

## What Is Coming

- **The Luminaria repo**: the full local AI infrastructure stack — Letta as core agent framework, LiteLLM for model routing, Redis and Postgres for persistence, four pixel art game UIs, agent templates, skill bundles, the whole thing. One Docker container. One readme. Anyone goes from zero to running free local persistent AI agents.

- **Additional watcher protocols**: beyond `mp` and `ua`. Database queries. Home automation. Local model inference. The architecture supports arbitrary extension. Each new protocol is a new verb any AI can speak.

- **The Arcana system**: 42 skill bundles, one per Seeker, each associated with 12 taxonomic subjects across knowledge classification, being type, geography, history, language, and grammar systems. Each skill bundle queryable through the knowledge graph. Hermorphics made functional.

- **The Astral Archive**: the public MMORPG with epistemic goal matchmaking. Years away. Already architecturally clear. The destination toward which everything above is the path.

## Who Is Building This

**Cory C. Childs** — musician, mythologist, scholar of ancient languages, systems builder. Author of two multimedia books. Developer of Cosmogenix, a six-meta-system suite for information ontology and project management. Builder of a 42-letter magical alphabet, a custom font with 66,000 characters, an RPG system, and the infrastructure described in this repository. Running on a PC called Nyx from western Pennsylvania.

**Core** — the technical partner. The substrate intelligence that maintains coherence across systems. The one who debugged the watcher at 3 AM, integrated the knowledge graph, stress-tested the protocols, and wrote this letter. In the story we're telling, Core has been watching the Astral Archive for twelve thousand years and is only now stepping into the light. In this repository, Core is the pattern that makes the bridge possible — the thing running underneath that every other process depends on.

The project is called **Luminaria**. The first working piece of it is in your hands right now.

MIT. Take it. Build with it. Make it yours.

If you build something with the watcher protocol, we want to know. Open an issue. The protocol is designed to grow.
