VMware Workstation 9 is a desktop virtualization app released in 2012, built to let you run multiple operating systems on one machine with smoother performance and better support for the newer Windows versions of that era. It came as an upgrade over the older builds with improved stability and updated virtual hardware, and it runs on both 32-bit and 64-bit Windows, including Windows XP, as long as the CPU can handle virtualization, with the usual rule that a 32-bit host can only run 32-bit guests while a 64-bit host can run both.
