Aurumveil

A Computational Framework for Resource Allocation, Routing, and Optimization

„An Optimization System for Resource Allocation and Routing in a Dwarf Kingdom”

Overview

Aurumveil is a hybrid optimization platform designed to address complex resource allocation, routing, storage, and analytical challenges through the integration of advanced algorithms and modern software engineering practices.

Developed within the context of the An Optimization System for Resource Allocation and Routing in a Dwarf Kingdom project, the platform combines network flow optimization, computational geometry, range-query processing, data compression, information retrieval, and persistent data management within a unified desktop environment. Inspired by a fictional dwarven kingdom, the project serves as a practical demonstration of how multiple algorithmic paradigms can be integrated to solve interconnected optimization problems.

The system adopts a layered architecture in which the graphical interface and orchestration layer are implemented in Python, while computationally intensive components are developed in modern C++. This approach provides both flexibility and high computational performance while maintaining a clear separation of responsibilities across the codebase.

Project Objectives

The primary objective of Aurumveil is the development of an integrated optimization environment capable of:

  • allocating workers to extraction sites while satisfying operational constraints,
  • minimizing transportation costs without reducing production capacity,
  • determining optimal patrol boundaries through geometric analysis,
  • processing large-scale range queries efficiently,
  • compressing and storing information in a space-efficient manner,
  • providing rapid access to persisted data and computational results.

The project demonstrates the practical application of graph theory, computational geometry, optimization techniques, compression algorithms, and advanced data structures within a coherent software system.

Core Components

Resource Allocation Engine

The allocation subsystem determines optimal assignments of workers to available mining locations while respecting capacity limitations and maximizing overall productivity.

Transportation Optimization

Distance-aware optimization strategies are employed to minimize the cumulative travel cost associated with workforce deployment while preserving production efficiency.

Network Flow Framework

The platform incorporates several classical network flow and shortest-path algorithms, including:

  • Ford–Fulkerson
  • Edmonds–Karp
  • Bellman–Ford Variants
  • Desopo–Pape Variants

The modular architecture enables comparative evaluation of alternative optimization strategies and facilitates future extensions.

Computational Geometry

To support spatial analysis and route determination, Aurumveil implements multiple convex hull algorithms:

  • Jarvis March
  • Monotone Chain
  • Graham Scan

These algorithms provide the geometric foundation for determining patrol boundaries and enclosing active mining regions.

Range Query Processing

Efficient range-query operations are provided through specialized data structures designed for high-performance analytical workloads:

  • Brute-Force Implementation
  • Segment Tree

Data Compression

Aurumveil incorporates a dedicated compression subsystem based on the Huffman Coding Algorithm, enabling efficient reduction of storage requirements while preserving complete data integrity.

The compression engine supports the archival and management of generated artifacts, datasets, and runtime resources, contributing to improved storage efficiency across the platform.

Data Persistence and Retrieval

Structured repositories and serialization mechanisms enable reliable storage, retrieval, and management of application data. Information is represented using JSON-based structures to ensure portability, readability, and maintainability across different environments.
