🚀 Install and set up

If the file comes in a ZIP folder:

1. Right-click the ZIP file
2. Choose Extract All
3. Open the extracted folder
4. Run the app file inside

If you use a work PC, you may need admin access to install it.

🔑 First-time setup

When you open open-swe for the first time, it may ask for an API key. This key lets the app talk to an AI service.

The app will not start

• make sure you downloaded the Windows version
• check that the file is not still inside the ZIP folder
• try running it again as admin

Windows says the file is unsafe

• open the release page and download the latest file again
• make sure you got it from the official release link
• choose Keep only if you trust the source

The AI does not respond

• check your internet connection
• confirm your API key is correct
• make sure your AI account still has access
• try again with a new prompt

The app opens, but nothing happens

• close the app and open it again
• check the task text for empty input
• test with a short prompt
• restart Windows if needed

📁 Suggested folder use

Keep open-swe in a place that is easy to find, such as:

• Downloads
• Desktop
• Apps folder on your drive

If you plan to use it often, move it out of Downloads after setup. That makes it easier to find later.
